So You Think You’re Stuck…

I’m sure most of us are familiar with the scenario: not being motivated by anything (except maybe a Netflix binge or ice cream), not sure what you would like to do or have happen, and also not really sure why it’s all going on anyway.

 

This pretty much describes the last few months for me.  I sort of checked out of my own life, while also being acutely aware that it’s happening and wanting to change it, but not doing much about it.  And, it’s not like I am sitting in bed, not getting dressed and totally shut down…  Well, full disclosure, there have been a few days close to that, but I have 2 dogs and they need to be fed and taken out so I can’t really pull that off in an epic way.  And, I have managed to keep my business going on a life-support kind of way.   It isn’t fun.

 

I thought I hit my rock bottom with it a couple of weeks ago, which is vastly different than the bottom before I discovered Access Consciousness and the tools that have invited me to create a pretty phenomenal life.  But, when I do something I like to do it well, which apparently includes swimming in the crap.  It’s really time to get over this perfection thing, but that’s a conversation for another day.

 

So, what is this and what do we do with it when it occurs?

 

Here’s the thing, it’s going to be different for all of us. And, I think that is part of the trap, in the quest to understand “why?” for so much of what goes on in our lives -  with our bodies, relationships and the world at large. So often we buy into generalizations or common beliefs that may not even apply to us, as individuals.  And, asking “why?” is a loop that is very hard to get out of, and isn’t ultimately useful anyway. 

So where do you go from here?

 

Ask questions!  Get curious about what is going on, and what you would like to be and change.  Step up and be the leader of your own life.

 

The first place I start is with the question, who does this belong to?”  Is it mine or someone else's?"  If it lightens up at all, it isn’t yours.  Return that crap to sender! We are rarely taught how aware we are, and that most of what goes on in our heads isn't ours.  We are aware of the people and world around us.

 

I will then ask, “what can I choose that will shift this?,”  and see what I comes up. 

 

Often what comes up is something unrelated to work or the endless to-do list.  And, when it does, You have to be willing to choose it, even if it doesn’t make sense.  This time I actually got that walking on the beach will be a catalyst for change.  The rational mind often kicks in here..."How the hell is that going to help me be more productive?"  

 

If you are willing to, go for it, and see what choosing to follow the engergy actually creates.  You may find you have more energy available, more ideas and more space of being.  If so, you are on the right track.  I find way more often than not doing something that brings me joy will give me a reset, a fresh perspective, and make it easier to change something.

 

Sometimes, like I did when I asked 'is it mine or someone else's?', you get that it’s a combo.  It’s not yours, and it is yours.  Then what? 

 

It’s time to get back to basics, Access 101, if you will.  And this is just what I did.  You can read about it, the tools I used and what happened in the next post {…}
